Sober Strides

Sober Strides is a website designed to help people struggling with addictions of all kinds--from vaping to screen time. It provides the motivation and accountability needed to succeed in recovery.

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the amount of college students who struggle with addiction and from apps, such as I Am Sober, that share the same mission as Sober Strides.

What it does

It provides reminders, motivations, and opportunities for reflection to help users achieve sobriety.

How we built it

We programmed the website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on Replit.

Challenges we ran into

The original scope of our project was too big. We wanted to implement databases to have users log into the website so that their progress could be saved. We also planned on building more features, but there were time and skill restraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of figuring out how to program dynamic features, such as flip boxes and calendars, for the first time.

What we learned

We learned that the use of databases largely increases the scope of the project and that there are so many dynamic features that can be coded using just HTML and CSS.

What's next for Sober Strides

We plan on implementing databases using PHP and SQL and all of our originally planned features, as well as adding more information to the site.
