Inspiration

As an educator, I feel that it is important to impart lessons to the young through engaging and exciting ways. This Instagram effect will thus be able to educate the young to do their part to fight COVID-19.

What it does

An effect where a user will get a randomised Soaper 5 character which also reminds them on some ways to fight COIVD-19 just like a hero.

How I built it

I used Spark AR which I learnt just because of this hackathon. I looked for videos on YouTube to get an idea of how to start and then started to put together the different parts into this effect.

Challenges I ran into

It was not easy learning how to use a new studio but having dabbled in Unity3D previously the interface was relatively easy to use.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I was able to put together the Instagram effect by myself with some support with media files from the ministry of education.

What I learned

It is not that difficult to come up with a meaningful effect as long as some time and effort is put in as well as the incubation and thinking of creative ideas.

What's next for Soaper 5 Fight Covid-19

It is linked to a game at suhaimizs.itch.io/soaperfight or go.gov.sg/soaperfight and can therefore continue to engage the young or the young at heart through a game made using Gdevelop too. The game is also pending review as part of FB Instant game as well but may not be reviewed so soon with the new regulations on having business account.
