My family goes all-out with decorations during the holiday season, and what better way to entertain the neighborhood kids than with a snowball shooting game! The “Snowball Slinger” is a 2-DOF, remotely operated ping pong ball launcher built upon the ATMega328P. This product features two high speed DC motors for launching, two high torque servos for aiming, and a servo motor for loading. Further, this project includes a scoring detection system using IR photodiodes and an LCD screen for score display. In the end, the electrical system and software design for this project was a success! However, the final construction and testing of the project was undercut by mechanical design and hardware issues out of the scope of this class.
