Inspiration
My inspiration for this build was literally remembering what it felt like as a child to wake up and realize that we had no school because the snow prohibited us. And with it currently being winter and having snowstorms back to back for a large portion of the country, I’m sure some children are looking for something to do while School is out.
What it does
This build provides children hours of fun in a snowy setting with multiple games to play outside( but inside the VR headset) it is also mobile! In the horizon world app.
How we built it..
I built this world in the horizon worlds app by using trimesh items and primitive blocks and shape to give the aesthetic of being outside on a snowy day and having plenty of things to do instead of being stuck inside the house. I use type script for the games and leaderboard within the world to keep track of the progress of the games.
Challenges we ran into…
Some of the challenges that I ran into was making sure that the game was not only fun but mobile, therefore if there are children who do not own an oculus, they would be able to play directly from their phones.
Accomplishments that we're proud of…
An accomplishment that I am proud of is how aesthetically pleasing this world is literally from the snow falling from the sky to the sound of snowballs being tossed around the world, also may I add the awesome photo booth that is in the world for them to take pictures with friends or solo if they choose to.
What we learned…
I have learned that people are looking for entertainment, and when it comes to children being entertained, it can be just as difficult as it is to entertain adults, however the perfect settingcan give anyone the ability to have a great time.
What's next for SNOW DAYY! (Schools out!)
What’s next? Themes!!! Valentine’s Day is coming, Black History Month and more can’t wait to change the themes and see how many people will enjoy what I’ve done!
