Inspiration
I was inspired to build Snooscapes because I stumbled upon a tutorial for a game called Stick Hero and I found it to be fun, challenging and addicting. I think Reditters will enjoy playing this game and sharing their highest scores.
What it does
Snooscapes challenges users to keep Snoo alive by creating sticks that connect him to the next platform. The users' score increases as they progress through the game. As soon as Snoo falls to his death, the game is over. Users can restart the game if they want to keep trying to get a higher score.
How we built it
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- Typescript
- Devvit API
- Devvit webviews
Challenges we ran into
I got very sick with a fever for a full week this past week, so I didn't get to setup the leader-board (...yet).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm an extremely impatient person, so I'm actually proud that I followed a video tutorial. Aside from that, I'm proud of the way I updated the UI/UX for Reddit. I also made it so the game can be played on a mobile phone/ touch screen.
What I learned
I was worried that HTML Canvas wasn't going to work well in a Devvit webview, but it actually works great! I also learned how to size the webview properly, so users can make it full screen if they want, which I think is important for a game like this.
What's next for Snooscapes
- Scores will be saved using Redis and displayed in the post that users create
- Leader board
