SnipTube

What it does

A browser extension that allows you to effortlessly highlight, tag, annotate, and export the most captivating parts of your favorite YouTube videos (I call them snips). Plus, with the magic of AI, it generates summaries for these snips, making it a breeze to revisit.

Inspiration

I built it with the vision that it can assist people with unlocking the knowledge within educational YouTube videos, instead of consuming massive amounts of valuable content just to forget all of it the second you click on the next video

What we learned

• This is my first time building a Chrome extension. Faced several issues at the start but they eventually became second nature to me
• Building Python serverless functions hosted in Vercel
• Prompt Engineering OpenAIs gpt-3.5-turbo with the help of LangChain
• How to build a marketing website that contains a demo of how SnipTube works to increase the conversion rate

What's next for SnipTube

Everything built to this point has been for myself. This is what I wanted. But now I aim to make SnipTube help the world in whatever way possible. SnipTube will now go wherever the community wants it to go.
