Inspiration
Every day, we consume an endless stream of information — articles, videos, podcasts, and threads. Some of those ideas make us think, some make us feel something — but most of them disappear. Lost in browser tabs. Buried in watch histories. Forgotten in bookmarks we’ll never revisit.
I built SnapSummary because I wanted to stop losing what inspires us. To capture meaning before it fades.
What it does
SnapSummary turns the content you consume into simple, shareable summaries.
Whenever you come across something valuable — articles, YouTube videos or web pages — you can use SnapSummary. In seconds, it transforms it into a clean summary card you can keep, translate, and share.
It also builds a history of your learning journey, showing how your ideas and insights evolve over time.

How I built it
- Chrome APIs: Built-in AI (Summarizer, Prompt, Translator), Storage, Tabs, Scripting
- Rollup: Modern JavaScript bundling
- DOMPurify: XSS protection for rendered content
- Marked: Markdown parsing for AI responses
- html-to-image: High-quality card image export
Challenges I ran into
Articles, videos, and web pages require different extraction methods. Finding a consistent and accurate summarization approach took multiple iterations.
Accomplishments that I proud of
- Built a working prototype that summarizes and organizes multiple content types seamlessly
- Designed a beautiful, distraction-free interface that encourages reflection
- Created a translation feature that breaks language barriers for learning
- Got early testers who said, "It's very useful to my ideas to my colleagues."
What I learned
- People don’t just want faster information — they want lasting understanding.
- A product that respects users’ attention and curiosity can create genuine emotional connection.
- Using Chrome AI makes everything much easier!
