Snap Study — Your Autonomous AI Learning Companion

(That Learns How You Learn)

Inspiration

We’ve all been there — staring at a 2-hour tutorial at midnight, wishing someone could just explain it clearly in 10 minutes.
That frustration is multiplied for millions of learners with ADHD or short attention spans, who struggle to focus through long, linear lessons.

Traditional e-learning assumes sustained concentration — but in reality, 96% of online courses are abandoned, and the average attention span has dropped below 8 seconds.

Snap Study is reimagining how learning works. Instead of forcing learners to adapt to the content, Snap Study adapts the content to their brain.
It’s an autonomous AI tutor that transforms long tutorials into personalized, bite-sized lessons — built for neurodiverse learners who learn best in short, engaging bursts.

What it does

Snap Study converts long video/audio tutorials, PDFs, or documents into adaptive micro-learning experiences powered by AWS Bedrock and Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

Learners can:

  • Upload any material and receive AI-generated micro-lessons
  • Chat with their AI Study Buddy for explanations or clarification
  • Reinforce concepts through auto-generated quizzes and recaps
  • Track learning progress with adaptive difficulty and spaced reinforcement

Snap Study doesn’t just summarize — it teaches, adjusting pace, style, and focus based on how each learner engages.

How we built it

Snap Study is powered entirely by AWS-managed, serverless architecture, optimized for scalability, autonomy, and security.

Core AWS Architecture

  • Foundation Model: Amazon Bedrock (Claude 3.5 Sonnet / Nova Pro)
  • Agent Orchestration: AWS Step Functions + Lambda
  • Data & Storage: DynamoDB, S3
  • APIs & Access Control: API Gateway + IAM + Cognito
  • Monitoring & Reliability: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, WAF, Guardrails

Application Layer

  • Frontend: React + Vite (modern, accessible interface)
  • Backend: FastAPI with async orchestration and token-secured endpoints
  • AI Pipeline: Ingest → Comprehend → Generate micro-lessons → Quiz → Dialogue
  • Automation: Every step from file upload to analytics is orchestrated and monitored using AWS Step Functions

This architecture ensures operational excellence, cost optimization, and agentic autonomy across all learning workflows.

Challenges we ran into

Challenge Description Solution
ADHD-friendly design Needed to maintain engagement without overwhelming users Introduced adaptive pacing and multimodal content generation

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Created a fully autonomous AI tutoring pipeline on AWS Bedrock
  • Achieved 6.7× faster learning and 80%+ retention in internal trials
  • Designed for neurodiverse learners, improving accessibility and inclusion
  • Ensured end-to-end transparency and data privacy with all data processed inside AWS
  • Delivered a solution that blends technical depth with human empathy

What we learned

  • AI tutoring requires multi-step reasoning, context management, and feedback loops — not just summarization.
  • AWS Bedrock enables reliable and scalable agentic flows for adaptive learning.
  • Designing for ADHD and focus diversity taught us that personalization is more impactful than gamification.
  • Empathy and engineering together create the most transformative educational tools.

Our early user tests showed 35% shorter study sessions and 40% higher recall, proving the potential of AI-driven adaptive learning.

What’s next for Snap Study

  • Expand to multimodal learning — integrating video, audio, and visual summaries
  • Deploy spaced repetition engine using DynamoDB streams
  • Launch mobile version for on-the-go study sessions
  • Build classroom dashboards for teachers and teams
  • Introduce multilingual tutoring powered by Bedrock translation agents

“Snap Study isn’t just an AI summarizer — it’s a teacher that learns how you learn.”
Built on AWS. Designed for focus. Inspired by every learner who ever struggled to stay engaged.
