Inspiration
I recently became fascinated with the idea of microlearning and was looking to build something that could help integrate it into the school system
What it does
SnapShot is a Microlearning platform like TikTok or Instagram, but exclusively for education. The idea stems from research done in the field that a short bit of exposure to a topic before learning it in a lecture can change the way you learn for the better. Our app is designed for Professors or Teachers to upload bite-sized portions of their lectures before the lecture so the students can view the content and get some exposure in advance. If the microlearning didn't answer all of the students' questions or they simply don't understand the topic, there is a built-in ai that our team put together that we call Snappy. Snappy can handle parsing and understanding full videos of content and can recapitulate that content back to a user in any way they need.
How we built it
We built it using Python, Flask, and openAI APIs
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was getting our complex code to run smoothly on a web interface
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are by far most proud of our AI that we put together that can parse and understand video content
What we learned
We learned that team coordination isn't as simple as it seems
What's next for SnapShot
The idea for SnapShot is that it takes the microlearning initiative to the next level and is something that all education calls for in the future.
