Inspiration

Students like us have many exams and quizzes, and we can often struggle with studying effectively. With AI taking the world by storm, it is now common to see it utilized in ways that bring convenience and speed to work and life tasks. That's why we wanted to create a website that builds on top of AI's capabilities to streamline creating study flashcards.

What it does

All you have to do is upload any number of image files to the website and specify the number of flashcards you want and it'll generate them for you. Editing and saving could not be implemented at this time, but may be in the future.

How we built it

React/HTML/CSS for frontend, TypeScript as the main language, Tesseract.js for OCR (Optical Character Recognition), OpenAI API to generate flashcards from the returned text, Vite for quick building

Challenges we ran into

Like the Hackathon panel before the official start of projects mentioned, we realized we had to lower our expectations of what we wanted in the project and focus on our MVP.

What we learned

It was a first complete Hackathon for some of us and the experience was fun! We each learned new tools.

What's next for Snap2Study

We would love to add pdf compatibility and the ability to recognize hand-drawn notes as currently, it only supports text.
