Inspiration
Standing at the threshold of Major League Hacking's Game Week, a surge of anticipation and apprehension coursed through my veins. I was poised to embark on a voyage that would propel me far beyond my comfort zone – the mission: to craft a Snake game in JavaScript, armed with nothing but ambition and determination.
What it does
It is a snake game that enlarges itself as its the fruits on the screen
How we built it
As the foundational blocks of my game materialized, I confronted the next formidable obstacle: mastering game development principles. Maneuvering through game states, integrating user controls – the terrain appeared treacherous at first. Undeterred, I delved into experimentation, devising and refining algorithms until the delicate equilibrium of challenge and entertainment was achieved.
However, progress was met with a persistent adversary: bugs and glitches incessantly impeding my advancement. Debugging became an inseparable companion as I meticulously combed through lines of code, relentlessly pursuing elusive errors.
Yet, amidst the trials and tribulations, invaluable lessons emerged. Patience evolved into a steadfast ally as I recognized that greatness is not born overnight – nor is a flawless game. Resilience became my creed, as I persevered through setbacks, acknowledging failure as merely a transient obstacle on the path to triumph.
And then, a breakthrough – the fragments coalesced into a cohesive whole. The once-static screen burgeoned with life as the serpent slithered across the canvas, devouring pixels with each triumphant bite. It was a moment of sheer elation, every line of code a testament to unwavering perseverance and unwavering dedication.
Challenges we ran into
The odyssey commenced with a daunting challenge: acquainting myself with the fundamentals of JavaScript. Engulfed in tutorials, literature, and online modules, I clung to each concept as a lifeline. From variables to loops, each line of code felt akin to a puzzle demanding my relentless resolve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Managed to build a game within 24hrs.
What we learned
It has helped me learn to code in JS and as well gave me the amazing experience of building a game for the first time being a novice coder.
What's next for Snake Mania
Currently the game can be played only by a player but in the near future we will like to make it multiplayer.
