Inspiration

We hate mail. We travel a lot and it's a huge pain. Even when you're at home, 90% of mail is junk, and only 1% is something that's critical to see. We think there's a better way to live.

What it does

There are services out there that will take your mail and scan it. We take that and make it smart, modern and actionable. First we summarize what's important, what's less important, and what's junk, and you get that every day you get mail. Then we file it all away digitally and make it completely queryable with chatgpt, so you can ask things like, "Get me all my documents related to taxes for 2022". Or, "how much did I spend on my mortgage this year?"

Challenges we ran into

It's challenging to get ai to make sense of all sorts of disparate documents!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We feel like we came up with a good solution to the challenge of reading all these documents, and it's fun to have a real thing that could solve a headache.

What we learned

We were able to dive deeper into different services and techniques around document processing, and explored a bit how to leverage ai differently in design.

What's next for SnailMail

The moon! We'll explore the reality of the idea some more to see how viable it is, we also have a lot of ideas on how to expand, because a lot of the problems we're solving of course don't just apply to the physical world anymore, we need these solutions for all communications.
