Inspiration

During one quiet afternoon during April Vacation, Karman and Pavlo sat around for 2 hours struggling with the hardest question of all: where to go to eat. Every time a suggestion was offered there was a long moan followed by a phrase similar to "Nah, been there, done that". We, as a team plus two eager beavers, decided to solve this problem once and for all.

What it does

This app allows a group of friends to vote on where they want to eat between two random restaurants nearby.

How we built it

We used Android Studio and HTML5UP to design the app and the website for our app. Then, we used Google Places and Maps API and Firebase to retrieve the restaurants and have user authentication respectively.

Challenges we ran into

We had great difficulty incorporating the Google Nearby Search as it used JSON which none of had any experience in. Similarly simply learning Android was a difficult challenge in itself.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We got most of the functionality that we were aiming for in the app done like random nearby restaurants and authentication.

What we learned

Everything we did in this app was completely new including all the design features.

What's next for SnackTallyApp
