Inspiration
During disasters due to the absence of cellular network citizens do not have access to a proper navigation tool when they are stuck in a disaster prone area which they are not familiar with.
What it does
We try this to help :
- Poor people without smart phones can't access maps
- People stuck in natural disaster who can't access internet
- People in internet lockdown which often happens in indian cities like delhi etc.
How I built it
Twilio and google maps api is base of out implementation.
Challenges I ran into
Consuming a api using sms was a big challenge we ran into. Twilio helped us overcome this challenge where user sends sms or query request to twilio and then twilio calls our flask api and finally twilio send the response on the same phone number through their sms services.
What I learned
We don't need internet for everything.
