Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project came from the desire to make cryptocurrency trading more accessible and user-friendly. We wanted to provide a convenient platform for users to exchange cryptocurrencies via simple SMS text messages while also helping them predict real-time transaction gas fees.

What it does

Our SMS-based crypto exchange with gas prediction lets users initiate cryptocurrency trades and receive gas fee predictions through text messages. Users can send text commands to buy, sell, or check their crypto balances. The system calculates and provides gas fee estimates for each transaction to help users make cost-effective decisions.

How we built it

We built this platform using a combination of Twilio's programmable SMS service for communication and integration with Circle's APIs to access real-time gas fee data and complete transactions. We developed a custom machine-learning model to predict future gas fees. The platform is hosted on a secure server and built with user privacy and data security in mind.

Challenges we ran into

Developing a robust LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) model for gas fee prediction posed several challenges. Training the model to accurately predict gas fees required substantial historical data and fine-tuning of hyperparameters. Achieving a balance between model accuracy and generalization was a key challenge, as gas fee dynamics can be influenced by various factors such as network congestion and gas price fluctuations.

Integrating the Circle API into our platform was another significant challenge. APIs can have documentation discrepancies, rate limits, and authentication requirements that need to be carefully managed. Ensuring seamless communication between our application and the Circle API, handling errors gracefully, and maintaining data consistency were complex tasks.

We are proud to have successfully created a user-friendly and accessible crypto exchange platform that leverages SMS technology.

What we learned

We gained a comprehensive understanding of blockchain technology, gas fee dynamics, and Twilio integration during the development process. This allowed us to create an interactive SMS-based crypto exchange that provides users with real-time insights into gas fees while trading cryptocurrencies.
