Inspiration
We were deathly hungry at the beginning of the hackathon, and we were dreaming about walking to Isla Vista and getting a nice, refreshing smoothie from our local favorite smoothie place, Blenders in the Grass.
What it does
Users can customize a smoothie, watch it getting blended, and even save their favorite smoothies for reference later.
How we built it
We used React.js and built it on Glitch.com.
Challenges we ran into
JavaScript is pain.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We designed all our graphics ourselves! We also had a lot of bugs that we were able to resolve, for example, it took a while to get the save button to only save once and not push any duplicates to the list.
What we learned
We learned how to animate the blender using CSS and JavaScript. We learned how to create react components with props and state, and we learned how to use the map function to reuse components.
What's next for Smoothie Simulator
We could add the nutrition facts to our smoothie app. We also want to implement some sort of login system for users. Lastly, we could let users click on their saved smoothies to order the same smoothie again.
