Inspiration

Many people seemed to smoke around us--there are people smoking in front of of us when walking on a street and neighbors smoking whose smoke comes into our room and causes second-hand smoking. Not only so, parents smoke in their homes and their children cannot really do anything about it but become a victim to second-hand smoking.

What it does

This game is in the form of a typing game, where the user has to try to get to the destination, the smoker, as soon as possible by typing the facts/data about the effects of smoking. While the user is typing, there is a lung icon on the top left that gets darker as the time elapses. The mission of the user is to bring the message, namely the information that they type, to the smoker before his lung gets completely dark.

How I built it

We used the Unity game engine and C# programming language and deployed the game for windows/mac/linux machines.

Challenges I ran into

The challenges we ran into were how to present the sentences/information on the screen, turning the lung darker as the time goes, and moving the character forward as if it's running.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Although not perfect, we were able to show the lung getting darker as time elapses, make the counter count down upon clicking the start button, and make the words appear on the screen at different heights.

What I learned

We learned how challenging it is to come up with an idea that is attractive to our target audience and have come to appreciate the popular games etc. out there.

What's next for Smoking Prevention

Create different levels, make the sentences appear in sequential order, and make the character move forward.
