Inspiration
Smoke & Mirrors was born from the experience of being loved conditionally — where affection came with rules, expectations, and edits to who you are. I wanted to capture the moment someone realizes the “love” was control, and chooses themselves again. The dance element symbolizes returning to own body, rhythm, and identity.
What it does
This project turns emotional healing into performance. It’s a music video + dance piece that expresses the journey of reclaiming yourself after someone tried to shrink your identity. It invites others to recognize their own “illusion relationships” and walk back into their power.
How we built it
I wrote the lyrics collaboratively with ChatGPT, produced the track on Suno, created the visual style using Seedream 4.0 on Higgsfield, animated it through Grok Imagine and edited it all together with CapCut. Every step blends human feeling with AI tools to create something personal, cinematic, and emotionally resonant.
Challenges we ran into
Finding the right tone — not bitter, not soft — just true. Making the dance feel like storytelling rather than choreography. And learning to use multiple AI tools together in a way that still feels human.

I transformed real experiences into a piece of art that others can see themselves in. The final result feels honest, powerful, and visually strong — not just a song, but a statement.

That AI can help amplify emotional storytelling when the heart leads the process. And that even when someone tries to rewrite you, your voice isn’t gone — just waiting to be returned to.
What’s next for Smoke & Mirrors
The next step is expanding this into a full short-form dance series exploring different stages of self-reclamation — illusion, realization, break, and rebirth. Live performance + extended choreography is the goal.
