Inspiration
PM 2.5 in smog reduces the avg. world life expectancy by 2.2 years. We see in cities like Ohio and New Delhi that polluting companies operate without penalties. We want to change this through a pollution point of origin tracker.
What it does
It tracks pollution (particulate matter) from its origin to where the pollution goes using wind speed and direction detectors.
How we built it
We built it using Rspberry Pi, a PM sensor, webcam, motor driver, 2 DC motors and a wind direction and speed sensor we made.
Challenges we ran into
The wind and speed sensor did not work as intended so we changed the design and implemented a differently functioning sensor. We also thought we would make a drone initially but decided on a land robot because of less time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have finished a driving proof-of concept in just 24 hours. We are also very proud that our idea can benefit society.
