Inspiration
The inspiration for this project came from something very common which is the mirror. Nowadays everyone looks into the mirror and start looking for flaws causing so many mental health issues like anxiety, imposter syndrome and many more. What if before you start looking for flaws it asked you to smile and you realised how beautiful you are?
What it does
Serotonin Booster works exactly like a mirror people look at their beautiful faces and it encourages them to smile. This gives people an instant serotonin boost. Statistically, A small smile can improve your efficiency and mental health by a tremendous amount.
How we built it
We built the Model on Python using OpenCV and Deepface. OpenCV was used to detect the face and Deepface was used to analyse the facial expression to check what is the current mood of the person. The whole model is put onto a web app using Flask.
Challenges we ran into
There were various challenges that we faced during the last 3 days. We are all beginners so we had to learn a lot of technologies used in this project. The FER2013 dataset was a huge dataset that slowed down the whole process a lot.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The completion of this project in itself is a huge accomplishment as we had lost hope in the middle but we didn't give up. The project came out exactly how we envisioned it. Apart from all of that, we learnt a lot about Machine learning, Computer Vision and making a web app using flask.
What's next for Serotonin Booster
Serotonin Boster has a lot of real-world use cases. Mainly in today's day and age where everyone is facing imposter syndrome. It will help in making people smile and appreciate themselves more. Placing this on the street, cafes, malls, and any public place where people for a second look and realise how beautiful they are.
