Inspiration
When people face discrimination or negative judgments, there is a tendency to give up on a passion and neglect their true feelings. We hope to influence players to know that no one else can dictate your happiness, and follow their passion with a relatable story that will leave long-term retention.
What it does
Currently, we made one of the playable characters movable around the screen. We did not have enough time to incorporate the interactive aspect of the game, so we included the script on the GitHub Repo. We planned for this game to be an interactive visual novel story where a playable character with a detailed story background interacts with NPCs and objects to obtain clues in order to solve the mystery of the Smile Corporation.
How we built it
We created the game using an open-source C# framework, Monogame.
Challenges we ran into
We overestimated the scope of the game. We were able to build an organized game plan and ideas. However, it was something that could not be finished in 24 hours.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first time working together, but we were productive and efficient as a team, and we accomplished as much as we did for a first hackathon for the majority of the team.
What we learned
We learned the importance of detailed time management and planned breaks. We were planning to work continuously with very minimum breaks, so we ended up burning out more easily and did not have enough energy.
What's next for Smile Corporation
Incorporating the interactive aspects and the storyline to make the game fully playable.
