Inspiration
Especially during the current pandemic, having fun with your friends and family have been extremely difficult. However, thanks to platforms like Discord, interacting with your friends and family is a lot easier despite the social distance. We've decided to make and fun and interactive Discord bot to add a bit more fun and excitement to these Discord channels. And to follow the hackathon's theme, we've decided that the bot's theme should be closely related to camping. Thus, Smid the Smore was born!
What it does
Smid the Smore is a fun and interactive Discord bot that calls Smid when certain commands are called in chat. You can learn more about Smid's list of commands in the project's README.
How we built it
Smid the Smore is built purely using Python and public APIs.
Challenges we ran into
With Smid the Smore being an extremely creative project, it was difficult selecting which commands we wanted to incorporate into the bot. We also had difficulties implementing certain features and executing certain commands due to our inexperience with Python and creating Discord Bots.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of overcoming the challenges we faced and Smid the Smore as a bot overall.
What we learned
We've learned a lot about collaboration and the behind the scenes in the creation of a Discord bot.
What's next for Smid the Smore
In the future, we'd like to add more commands to Smid the Smore and work on correcting bugs!
