Inspiration

As students, we often deal with large amounts of study material such as lecture PDFs, slides, notes, and videos. Converting this information into structured notes, flashcards, and revision-friendly formats takes significant time and effort. We wanted to simplify this process using AI.

SmartStudy AI was inspired by the idea of creating a single learning assistant that can understand study content and transform it into multiple useful learning resources automatically, helping students study smarter, not harder.

What it does

SmartStudy AI is an AI-powered learning assistant that helps students understand and revise academic content more effectively.

Users can upload:

Lecture notes
Images
Educational videos

SmartStudy AI then generates:

Smart summarized notes
Flashcards for quick revision
Mind maps for concept visualization
Slide decks (PPT-style summaries)
Quizzes with explanations

This allows learners to grasp concepts faster and retain information better.

How we built it

We built SmartStudy AI using Google AI Studio with Gemini 3 Pro, leveraging its advanced reasoning and native multimodal capabilities.

The system uses prompt-driven workflows to analyze educational content and generate structured learning outputs. Gemini 3 Pro enables SmartStudy AI to process text, PDFs, and images while maintaining contextual understanding and educational accuracy.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was designing prompts that consistently produced high-quality, well-structured educational content across different subjects and formats.

Another challenge was balancing detail and simplicity ensuring that summaries were informative without being overwhelming, and that quizzes remained educational rather than generic.
