What it does

It is a Gemini AI powered community fridge redistribution system. It allows homeless people to gain access to food in all different kinds of places.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

Our first SD snapped while we were working, and our second SD card corrupted itself. We then got a better one, which thankfully worked.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of the main accomplishments we were proud of was when we first made the food classification system. It took a picture of the item, use the frames and Gemini to classify the product and add it to our database.

What we learned

We had to learn various libraries to work with Raspberry Pi, as well as trying to work with a completely new group and unfamiliar people.

What's next for SmartShelf

Implement an actual freezer element, and essentially just make the demo better. Once we do this, we can think of next steps of actually trying to get the idea running and into business.
