SmartSathi AI
Inspiration
Students today have access to countless educational and career platforms, but the information is scattered across different apps and websites. A student may use one platform for studying, another for internships, another for resumes, and another for interview preparation. This can make it difficult to know what to focus on and what steps to take next.
We were inspired to build SmartSathi AI as a digital companion that brings academic support and career guidance into one place. Our goal is to help students make smarter decisions, save time, and receive personalized guidance based on their individual goals and skills.
What it does
SmartSathi AI is an AI-powered student companion that supports students throughout their academic and career journey.
The platform provides:
- 📚 AI Study Assistant – Explains difficult concepts in simple and understandable language.
- 📝 Doubt Solving – Helps students understand questions and solve academic problems.
- 📅 Personalized Study Planner – Creates study schedules based on subjects, goals, and available time.
- 🎯 Exam Preparation – Generates practice questions and helps students prepare for exams.
- 🧠 Skill-Gap Analysis – Compares a student's current skills with their desired career and identifies areas for improvement.
- 💼 Internship Guidance – Helps students identify suitable internship opportunities based on their skills and interests.
- 📄 Resume Assistance – Helps students create and improve their resumes.
- 🎤 AI Mock Interviews – Allows students to practice interviews and receive AI-generated feedback.
- 📊 Student Dashboard – Provides a centralized view of learning progress, goals, and activities.
By combining these features, SmartSathi AI acts as a personalized digital mentor for students.
How we built it
We designed SmartSathi AI as a modern web-based platform with an AI-powered backend.
Technology Stack:
- Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript / React
- Backend: Python with Flask or FastAPI
- AI: Generative AI API
- Database: Firebase / MongoDB
- Authentication: Firebase Authentication
- APIs: AI and internship-related APIs
- Deployment: Cloud-based deployment
The application collects information such as a student's interests, skills, academic goals, and career preferences. The AI processes this information to generate personalized recommendations, study plans, skill roadmaps, and career guidance.
We focused on creating a simple and student-friendly interface so that users can access important features without needing technical knowledge.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was deciding how to combine multiple student needs into a single platform without making the application complicated.
We also faced challenges in:
- Designing effective AI prompts for reliable and useful responses.
- Personalizing recommendations for students with different goals and skill levels.
- Connecting multiple features into one consistent user experience.
- Managing user information while maintaining privacy and security.
- Building a functional MVP within a limited hackathon timeframe.
- Balancing the number of features with the quality of each feature.
These challenges helped us prioritize the most valuable features and focus on building a practical MVP.

What we learned
Through building SmartSathi AI, we learned that developing an AI application is not only about integrating an AI model. The quality of the user experience, prompt design, personalization, data handling, and reliability of recommendations are equally important.
We also learned how to:
