Inspiration

I got the inspiration from a pet extension that is available in vs code. However I wanted to make it so that it is actually useful, not just for show.

What it does

It allows users to ask questions to a virtual pet as a chatbot while providing quick settings for selecting the whole page or a selection of text, instead of having to go to other chatbots and copy pasting content for context.

How we built it

We built it using html, css, js along with chrome extensions manifest and gemini api.

Challenges we ran into

Always displaying the pet icon on web pages.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were successfully able to complete this project.

What's next for smartPets

More features like selecting the model you want to use like gemini, claude, gpt, etc as well as adding new pet options like cat and bird.
