💡 Inspiration

During the Google Chrome Built-in AI Challenge 2025, I wanted to create something that shows how Chrome’s built-in AI can make real-life tasks simpler.

I was inspired by how many people still face difficulties managing online payments, verifying transactions, and detecting errors or fraud. That’s why I built SmartPay AI — an intelligent payment assistant that automates financial analysis and provides instant insights using Chrome’s AI features.

My goal was to demonstrate how built-in AI can bring trust, speed, and intelligence to digital payments, all within the browser environment. 🛠️ How we built it

SmartPay AI was built using Node.js, Express.js, and Chrome’s Built-in AI APIs. The backend handles payment data analysis, while the frontend interacts through simple requests. I hosted the project on Replit for rapid prototyping and connected it with Render for a live, persistent demo.


⚙️ Challenges we ran into

While building SmartPay AI, one of the main challenges was configuring Chrome’s AI features with Node.js inside Replit’s limited environment. Another challenge was ensuring payment analysis worked seamlessly with JSON data and real-time transaction logic. After debugging, I streamlined the code and automated the AI responses.


🏆 Accomplishments we’re proud of

I’m proud that SmartPay AI successfully runs in the browser using Chrome’s AI APIs — no external AI models needed. It provides real-time analysis, fraud detection logic, and automated transaction summaries — all built and deployed within a single workspace.


📚 What we learned

Through this project, I learned how to leverage Chrome’s built-in AI tools to make powerful, local applications. It also strengthened my understanding of full-stack deployment and how AI can simplify financial decision-making.


🚀 What’s next for SmartPay AI

I plan to expand SmartPay AI into a full payment intelligence dashboard, including real-time fraud detection, currency conversion insights, and smart notifications.
