Inspiration
Manual attendance is time-consuming and can lead to errors and proxy attendance. We wanted to create a smarter, faster, and contactless way to manage attendance.
What it does
SmartFace Attendance uses facial recognition to identify users and automatically record their attendance. It provides accurate attendance records and simplifies monitoring for administrators.
How we built it
We built the system using facial recognition, a web-based interface, a backend for processing attendance data, and a database to securely store user and attendance records.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges with accurate face detection under different lighting conditions, recognition accuracy, handling multiple faces, and ensuring attendance data was recorded reliably.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a working automated attendance system that reduces manual effort, minimizes proxy attendance, and provides a convenient digital attendance experience.
What we learned
We learned about facial recognition, database management, backend integration, real-time data processing, and the importance of testing AI systems under different real-world conditions.
What's next for SmartFace Attendance System
We plan to add liveness detection, mobile support, improved recognition accuracy, cloud deployment, advanced attendance analytics, and automated notifications.
