Inspiration
Students often struggle to organize massive amounts of study materials, textbooks, and lecture notes efficiently. We wanted to create an intelligent tool that saves time, simplifies learning, and makes education more personalized using the power of Google Gemini.
What it does
SmartEdu AI is an AI-powered educational assistant. It automatically summarizes study documents, structures chaotic notes into clean outlines, generates interactive quizzes to test knowledge, and builds customized study paths based on individual student needs.
How we built it
We built the core logic using Python and integrated Google Gemini API for natural language processing, text summarization, and quiz generation. For the backend and data organization, we used lightweight databases and structured prompts to ensure fast, accurate responses.
Challenges we ran into
Handling large PDF files and unstructured lecture texts while keeping the AI responses concise and context-aware was challenging. We solved this by optimizing our prompt engineering and breaking down long texts into manageable chunks before feeding them to Gemini.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully integrating Google Gemini API to generate real-time, high-quality quizzes and summaries.
- Creating a clean, user-friendly workflow that turns messy study notes into structured formats within seconds.
What we learned
We gained deeper experience in prompt engineering, integrating large language models into real-world applications, and structuring AI responses for educational purposes.
What's next for SmartEdu AI
- Adding support for multiple languages (including Uzbek and Russian).
- Building a full-stack web and mobile interface.
- Integrating vector databases (like MongoDB Atlas) for long-term study history and progress tracking.
