Inspiration

I am an African Kid and growing up i have been able to experience the late age at which ids tend to learn how to talk, even expressing themselves. it is always a hard journey and the parents do not have the zeal, or even more of them lack the knowledge to educate the kids on. Iwas inspired by Social SHifters group that had a similar event to build on this very familiar problem and i thought it was actually achievable

What it does

SmartDuka is simply a simulation of an online shop, that kids will be using on their phones to simulate the process of selling, restocking on budget and so on, to cover on the education part, it provided question to tasks such as the change a customer requires when paying for what they requested, it also sharpens the kid to know how to follow the orders, give the customer what they need, read what they want hence sharpening their langauge too. by the end of the day, a kid, is able to communicate with others meaningfully, they are able to do basic arithmetics, they are able to manage their balances, hence giving them financial literature

How I built it

I used Codex, the openAI coding platform, and used one of their lates models to power the platform, the GPT 56. Terra, switching the efforts form low, to medium to high, while regulation on use of the credits they had offered me, to build the entire project, to discuss ideation and much more.

Challenges I ran into

Some of the challenges i had was lack of Open AI API credits, that limited me from using the gpt 5.6 to power the agents in my own project, i had to use other model inferences that had offered credits on their hackathons.

Accomplishments that i am proud of

i am proud of having done the whole project single handedly with codex, making it efficient for anyone to build even without a team, and to see it work, it was such an achievement, the animations, the feedback sound on buttons, everything in smart duka sparks the joy in young me.

What I learned

I actually learned a lot on the project, i gave instructions to codex, as a markdown file and it was able to deliver worldclass designs i never thought i could even do, than i would study then better, to understand even under those sleepless nights trying to make it work

What's next for SmartDuka

i am looking to scaling SmartDuka to use GPT 5.6 to power the agents, apply for funding and build mobile based apps for both android and iOS, to cater for the real user out there, so we can see a change. I will make the project more feature packed and submit to social shifters too, to quench the desire to make africa a land of great minds. Thank you!!
