Inspiration
SmartDoc AI was created to solve a common problem: spending too much time reading and understanding documents. Whether it's academic papers, technical documentation, or business reports, extracting key information can be time-consuming.
What it does
SmartDoc AI is an intelligent document processing assistant that uses advanced AI models (DeepSeek/Qwen) to:
- Summarize documents in seconds
- Answer specific questions about document content
- Extract key insights and action items
- Support multiple document formats (PDF, Word, text)
How we built it
We built SmartDoc AI using:
- Streamlit for the interactive web interface
- DeepSeek API for AI-powered document analysis
- PyPDF2 and python-docx for document parsing
- ChromaDB for vector storage of document embeddings
Challenges we faced
The main challenge was handling different document formats and ensuring accurate extraction of relevant information. We solved this by implementing a multi-stage parsing pipeline and using advanced AI models for understanding context.
