Inspiration
We found our inspiration through our collective experiences in retail environments. We frequently noticed the frustration of customers waiting in long queues and the inefficiency of traditional checkout processes. This led us to think about how technology could simplify and enhance the shopping experience. Additionally, our interest in technology trends, particularly in mobile apps and data analytics, played a significant role in shaping the idea. We envisioned a solution that not only benefits consumers by saving time but also provides valuable insights to businesses about shopping patterns and preferences.
What it does
As shoppers pick products from the shelves, they can quickly scan each item's barcode with the app, which adds it to their virtual cart. This process eliminates the need for traditional checkouts, allowing for a seamless and efficient shopping experience. The app includes a integrated payment system, enabling users to pay for their purchases directly within the app using third party payment services such as Apple Pay and Venmo, thus bypassing long queues. Additionally, the app collects data on shopping habits and preferences, offering valuable insights to retailers for inventory management and targeted promotions. This feature-rich app not only streamlines the shopping process for consumers but also serves as a powerful tool for businesses to understand and cater to customer needs more effectively.
How we built it
SwiftUI was used to create a sleek and intuitive interface. The UI includes screens for scanning products, viewing scanned items, and processing payments. Flask was chosen for the back-end. RESTful APIs were developed to handle various functionalities. A database schema was designed and implemented via MongoDB to store product information, user data, and transaction records.
