Inspiration

Air travel hasn’t changed much when it comes to passenger–crew communication. Most aircraft still rely on call buttons and verbal requests, which can create delays, confusion, and unnecessary workload for cabin crew.

Our goal was to reimagine this experience with modern UI and intuitive design, creating a simple way for passengers to request services while helping crew manage needs more efficiently.

What it does

Once the passenger logs in using their seat number, they can have a better in-flight experience with the help of this digital platform. With the SmartCabin feature, passengers can request accessories, food, drinks, and more. They can also notify staff for disability assistance, trash pickup, or communicate directly with cabin crew. Each request sends a clear notification, appearing on the crew dashboard with a single, efficient card view.

How we built it

We built it using the tech stack of JavaScript using frameworks such as React. We implemented a modernistic UI to enable users to experience an efficient way to communicate with aircraft crew.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we had was merging our file after we collaborated on our own ends on the same file. Making the UI look clean and modern was also a challenge without disrupting the functionality of the program. Another challenge was working on the backend of things, where both the passenger and crew user interfaces should connect.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a fully interactive multi-page cabin service system with modernistic UIs. We delivered a full end-to-end user flow experience where we designed a modern alternative to the call button.

What we learned

We learned the importance of reusability in scalable apps as well as the value of simplicity over feature overload. Most importantly, we learned that real-world systems can be improved with modern design!
