Small business owners in South Africa face a perfect storm of challenges: navigating complex SARS tax regulations, maintaining strict VAT compliance, and making informed financial decisions—all while lacking the resources to hire a dedicated CFO. We saw an opportunity to democratize financial expertise through AI.

What it does

SmartBiz SA is a secure, AI-powered financial management platform that acts as your virtual CFO:

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

The biggest technical challenge was integrating the Raindrop SmartSQL bridge with our Flask backend. The existing APIs weren't directly compatible, so we:

1. **Analyzed the Integration Gap**: Discovered that Raindrop's SmartSQL required a different       authentication and data flow pattern
 2. **Built a Custom Bridge**: Created a serverless microservice using Cloudflare Workers to act as a translation layer
 3. **Implemented Secure Communication**: Established encrypted communication between our  Flask app and the Raindrop service
  4. **Optimized Performance**: Ensured sub-second response times for natural language queries

This solution showcases our ability to solve complex integration challenges while maintaining security and performance.
