🧠 SmartBe – My Health AI Companion
💡 Inspiration
My grandpa has diabetes, my mom has hyperthyroidism. I wanted an easy way for them to track diet, medication, and health conditions so I can feel reassured.
At the same time, my gym buddies and I wanted a way to share diet + progress, keeping each other accountable like a fitness squad.
👉 SmartBe was born to reduce friction in health tracking and to recommend better choices using AI + Phenoml.
⚙️ What it does
SmartBe helps users: 🍎 Log meals & nutrition easily by photo or quick entry 📅 Visualize diet history in a clean calendar/timeline view 🤖 AI Recommendations (powered by Phenoml): Detects dietary patterns Suggests personalized improvements (e.g. more fiber, less sugar, protein balance) Tailors tips to conditions (like diabetes-friendly advice) 👥 Share updates with family or buddies → stay motivated together!
🛠️ How we built it
Frontend: Flutter → clean, cross-platform UI Backend: Flask REST API for authentication + health record storage Database: SQLite (dev) → PostgreSQL (scalable path) AI/ML: Phenoml for recommendation system based on diet logs Food classification + nutrition extraction models Auth: Google Sign-In → frictionless onboarding
🧩 Challenges we ran into
Integrating Phenoml into the data pipeline (structuring inputs & outputs for diet) Making dietary recommendations personalized yet simple for non-technical users Designing for both elderly users and fitness enthusiasts Balancing privacy/security with social features
