Inspiration

We were inspired by the common issues that the people face while submitting their grievances. Complaints may be lying in limbo, go to the wrong department, get repeated, or be left without a follow up. At the same time organizations have a hard time in dealing with a massive number of complaints at once. We wanted to devise a method that would utilize the power of Artificial Intelligence to comprehend the grievances, detect their priority, send them to the relevant departments, and keep track of them until they are resolved.

What It Does

SmartAI Grievance is an artificially intelligent grievance system that allows users to submit their complaints via text, images, and location. The system can: • Understand the grievance • Determine the priority of the grievance • Detect duplicates or spam complaints • Determine the relevant department • Enable users to track the progress of their complaint • Notify users of updates • Give admins an intuitive dashboard to handle the complaints • Determine patterns of grievances and hotspots In essence, we have turned a regular complaint into something intelligent, trackable, and actionable. We have built SmartAI Grievance using a mix of web technologies, backend systems, database systems, and AI. • Frontend: HTML, CSS, JS • Backend: Java, Spring Boot • Database: MySQL • AI: AI-based classification, prioritization, sentiment and duplicate analysis • APIs: System integrator for connecting the frontend, backend, database, and AI • Admin dashboard: SmartAI Grievance dashboard system The Java Spring Boot backend is responsible for handling authentication, processing and tracking the grievance, defining departments, and statuses among other things. MySQL is utilized to store the personal information of users, as well as the complaints they send through the system.

Challenges We Ran Into

Our biggest challenge was to train the system to comprehend various user inputs, and determine what grievance category and priority level the complaint falls under. We also had a hard time integrating the frontend with the Spring Boot backend, database, and AI. Processing duplicate complaints, verifying user details, tracking the grievance, and having an intuitive front-end with powerful back-end features also proved to be rather challenging.

Accomplishments We Are Proud Of

We are rather proud of the fact that we were able to turn our idea into reality by building a working prototype. We were able to integrate AI-backed grievance analysis, with a Java Spring Boot backend, database, and intuitive interface. Most importantly, we were able to build something that does not just sound good on paper, but actually has the potential to change the way government and organizations deal with grievances in a much better, faster, transparent, and intelligent way.

What We Learned

We learned how to translate an abstract idea into a working prototype. We learned how to work with Java and Spring Boot, databases, APIs, AI, and the frontend. We also learned how to debug, troubleshoot, collaborate, and compete. But most importantly, we learned that sometimes you do not need to reinvent the wheel, but rather, to build a better one.

What's Next

For our project, we have a clear vision of the road ahead. We want to transform our SmartAI Grievance into a powerful real-world system that can change the way people deal with grievances forever. Our future project includes: • AI that can understand multiple languages, including local languages • Speech input for grievances • AI-powered photo and video analysis • AI-powered location system • Better spam and duplicate detection • Notifications • Predictive analysis of recurring problems • Insights and grievance analysis dashboard • Intelligent department assignment • Escalation policies based on SLAs • End-to-end security and encryption • Government and organization system integration • Additional security and privacy features • Intelligent suggestion of solutions based on similar resolved cases
