Inspiration We have often encountered the issue of accumulating waste which affects our environment. Classifying waste is soo difficult especially when there are so many types and its confusing, people don't dispose the waste properly. Which results in accumulation of waste affecting planet health and garbage collectors have to suffer facing many health issues, this is problematic

What it does Our Ai driven Smart waste Classifier , solves the issue of being confused to classify the waste and also for the scalability a robotic arm to classify the waste accordingly and reducing the harmful effects from waste accumulation

How we built it We have trained the model using yolo-v8 on custom dataset , using Ultralytics library and also used roboflow to process the dataset.

Challenges we ran into We wanted to build an user friendly interface , but couldn't complete it as we ran into some errors while integrating it and also lack of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We can proudly say that after training so many images from dataset , our model can detect any external picture of waste into its classification and help in disposal/recycling.

What we learned The most important learning we received is that our planet is the dearest to us and we must protect it as well as the lives of people , who suffer a lot on daily basis to help clean the environment and us , keeping it fresh and greener , also waste classification is not an easy task when it comes to disposal and its important to properly dispose the waste for sustainability.

What's next for Smart Waste Classifier Integrating it with robotic arm for automatic classification of waste into its types and helping environment to go greener and sustainable , also helping from diseases which spread through the accumulation of waste, and people lives.
