Inspiration

Travel planning often requires switching between multiple platforms to compare flight prices, discover hotels, check flight status, and find discounts. We wanted to bring these essential travel features together in one convenient platform.

What it does

SmartTravel is a travel platform designed to simplify the journey from planning to booking. It brings together flight search, fare comparison, hotel discovery, flight tracking, and travel deals in a single interface.

Key features include:

  • Flight search with filters for airlines, budget, departure times, and stops.
  • Hotel discovery with ratings and virtual tour features.
  • Flight tracking through a dedicated radar and telemetry interface.
  • Travel deals, promotional codes, and fare-freeze options.
  • A streamlined, responsive interface with a consistent dark theme.

How we built it

We designed SmartTravel around a modular interface, with dedicated sections for flights, hotels, live radar, deals, and authentication. We focused on reusable UI components, consistent styling, readable flight information, and intuitive search and filtering experiences.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was presenting complex travel information without making the interface overwhelming. We addressed this by organizing information into structured cards, clear navigation, and dedicated pages. Maintaining a consistent design across different features and screen sizes also required careful attention to layout and component reuse.

What we learned

Building SmartTravel helped us understand how to structure a multi-feature web application, design consistent user experiences, and present travel information clearly. We also learned the importance of distinguishing simulated data from verified live information.

What's next

We aim to improve SmartTravel by integrating reliable live flight and hotel data sources, strengthening the booking workflow, and expanding personalized travel recommendations.
