Inspiration
The traffic density problem in big cities globally, and specifically in Algiers.
What it does
Various sensors placed on specific points of the road collect data, and send it to the server (control site) which analyzes it and determines the best actions to take to reduce risks and problems (diffusing messages, suggesting deviations, reducing speed limits...etc) and send them to users on their mobile app.
How we built it
We built the sensors using Arduino boards, and various shields. The server was developped with Flask, and the mobile app was developped with Android.
Challenges we ran into
Sensors synchronization and data transmission from Arduino to server. Optimizing the data display on the server dashboard.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a fully functional prototype that offers innovative services for smart road monitoring. And making a step forward in the Smart City project.
What we learned
It's not easy task to turn a City into Smart City over 48 hours.
What's next for Smart Traffic
Collecting more data, automatizing the analysis and decision process. Optimizing the communication ways.
