Inspiration

Traveling to unfamiliar places can be exciting—but also risky, especially for solo travelers and first-time tourists. Most safety solutions today are reactive, helping only after something goes wrong. This inspired us to build a system that focuses on prevention rather than reaction, using technology to detect potential risks early and keep tourists informed and protected in real time.

What it does

The Smart Tourist Safety System proactively protects travelers by monitoring their location in real time and detecting potential safety risks such as crowded areas, unsafe zones, low visibility, or emergencies. It sends intelligent safety alerts, allows users to set geo-fenced safe zones, and enables instant SOS activation with live location sharing. Tourists can report incidents, request help, and quickly contact emergency services, while their identity and safety data are securely managed using blockchain-based digital IDs.

How we built it

We designed the project as a responsive web dashboard using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Core logic simulates real-time GPS tracking, AI-driven alerts, geo-fencing zones, and emergency workflows. Blockchain concepts were integrated to generate secure, immutable tourist IDs for identity and incident logging. The UI was built with a clean, dashboard-style layout for ease of use.

Challenges we ran into

1)Designing a realistic safety workflow without real-world GPS or crime APIs 2)Balancing multiple features while keeping the interface simple 3)Simulating AI alerts and blockchain behavior in a frontend-only prototype

What We Learned This project strengthened our understanding of preventive safety systems, real-time monitoring logic, UI/UX design for critical applications, and how AI and blockchain concepts can work together for social impact.
