Inspiration
When making a smart environment using IoT, one of the most prominent concerns is power usage. Whether including more devices to be ever ready for use is worth considerably increasing power usage, possibly leading to increased bills, and overall environmental impact.
What it does
The system manages connected devices to a local network, and roughly estimates how much energy it consumes while fully active. It also enables the possibility of turning on/off said devices.
How we built it
We used Django framework for python, and implemented AI capabilities with the help of google AI studio.
Challenges we ran into
Making most of the infreastructure on a tight time budget. Making tough calls on implementing some of the planned features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a fully functional system, and developing it in a RESTful framework that is ready for production environments.
What we learned
-- A lot of teamwork, and learning the ropes of Django on the go.
What's next for Smart Things
Making the system more robust, expanding on its capabilities, and making it compatible with most pospular IoT technologies.
