Inspiration The idea of Smart Study came up to me as an AI-powered tool that plans your study schedule, explains topics in a simple way, and summarises long readings. It automatically deals with the workload of studying for different subjects. The only reason it is considered a problem is the planning. I found out that I was spending much time organising my revision rather than learning.
What it does Smart Study makes a personalised revision timetable out of the syllabus that the student has chosen. It splits up the different topics and at the end of each week AI-created quizzes are added to test understanding. The application comes with two major AI functions: Revision Helper: type in any subject and the AI will give you an explanation that is clear and easy to understand. Article Summariser: just copy a long part of the text and the application will immediately provide a summary that is short—great for quick review sessions.
How I built it Smart Study was created using the Flask backend and HTML/CSS frontend. The AI functions are supported through transformer-based text models for abstraction and explanation. The user timetables are saved on the system locally, and all the features are made straightforward and accessible.
Challenges I ran into The first one was getting the AI to give accurate and student-friendly explanations. The second was making sure the timetable that was generated was adjusted correctly for different syllabus structures. The last one was integrating the quiz generator without making the interface too heavy and slowing the loading speed of the program
Accomplishments that I am proud of One is the creation of a tool that is truly beneficial and can be used by students on a daily basis. Also, I am proud of creating a fully fucntional web app with no errors appearing
What I learnt Using flask effectively and improving my HTML skills along with it.
