Inspiration
I got the idea for Smart Stock from a nearby grocery shop. I noticed that managing products, checking stock, and handling bills was difficult for them. This inspired me to build a simple system to make their daily work easier.
What it does
Smart Stock helps shop owners manage products, check stock, scan barcodes, and create bills. It also has an AI feature that checks stock, suggests what to buy, searches online, and answers questions about the store.
How we built it
I used HTML and Tailwind CSS to build the user interface and Node.js for the backend. I also added AI features to help with stock checks and buying decisions. I worked on barcode scanning to make adding products and billing easier.
Challenges we ran into
One of my biggest challenges was getting the AI to work as expected. Making barcode scanning practical and easy to use in a real shop was another challenge. I had to try different ways to make these features work better.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I brought stock management, billing, barcode scanning, and AI features together in one system. I am also happy that I built this project by focusing on the real problems faced by local shop owners.
What we learned
I learned more about local shops by talking directly to shop owners and understanding their problems. I also learned more about backend logic, connecting different features, and making AI work in a real project.
What's next for Smart-Stock, smart inventory management
Next, I want to add low-stock alerts, sales reports, and better AI suggestions. I also plan to improve Smart Stock based on feedback from shop owners and make it useful for more small shops.
