π© Problem Statement Despite the importance of soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving for academic and professional success, educational institutions often lack structured and data-driven tools to assess and monitor these competencies. As part of the Assurance of Learning (AOL) process, there is a need for a dedicated system to track and enhance students' soft skill development across different programs and academic levels.
π‘ Project Objective Develop an AI-powered application that:
- Evaluates 3 to 5 soft skills per program (e.g., Bachelor's in Management, Computer Science, Master's in AI, Finance, etc.) using rubrics,
- Benchmarks individual and group results against predefined learning objectives,
- Triggers personalized action plans for students and teaching staff,
- Rewards successful students with shareable digital certificates,
- Enables continuous program improvement through data analytics.
π§ Key Features
Rubric-Based Evaluation β Structured assessments of soft skills via teacher, peer, or self-evaluation using institution-defined rubrics.
Learning Objectives Tracking β Each program defines expected performance levels (e.g., β₯80% achievement in problem-solving for all students in BBA program).
AI-Powered Diagnostic Engine β Detects students falling short of expectations and generates individualized improvement plans, β Identifies program-wide gaps and flags cohorts or classes (e.g., Campus Y) where soft skill targets are not met, β Suggests potential curriculum or pedagogical adjustments.
Reward & Recognition System β Students who meet or exceed expectations receive verifiable certificates (to be displayed on LinkedIn or CVs).
Integrated Feedback Loop β If performance falls below thresholds, the system prompts dual-level intervention:
- For students: Remediation or coaching plans.
- For faculty and program staff: Reflection on teaching methods, curriculum alignment, and potential updates to learning objectives.
Soft Skill Focus Only β Although Learning Objectives may include technical competencies, this application will exclusively focus on soft skills to ensure depth and quality of insight.
π Impact
- Aligns student development with the institutionβs learning goals and mission,
- Provides evidence for AOL accreditation and improvement loops,
- Promotes student employability through improved self-awareness and skill recognition,
- Supports faculty in continuous program refinement through actionable insights.
