Inspiration
Sleep issues today are often caused not just by lack of time, but by habits like late-night phone usage and overthinking. Most apps track only sleep duration and ignore why sleep gets disrupted. We wanted to build something that connects behavior with sleep quality, helping users understand the real cause behind poor sleep.
What it does
Smart Sleep & Behavior Tracker monitors:
- Sleep start and end time
- Night-time interruptions
- Screen usage during sleep breaks
- Morning mood and sleep quality
It analyzes this data and provides AI-powered insights such as:
“Late-night phone usage is affecting your sleep consistency.”
How we built it
- Frontend: Flutter for a clean, responsive UI
- Local Storage: Hive / SQLite for offline-first tracking
- Backend: Firebase Firestore for cloud sync
- Tracking: Android Usage Stats API to monitor screen usage
- AI Integration: API-based text analysis to generate insights and suggestions
Challenges we ran into
- Accessing and managing background screen usage data reliably
- Designing a smooth offline-first + sync architecture
- Keeping AI insights simple, accurate, and meaningful
- Limiting scope to deliver a working product within hackathon time
