Inspiration

We all know that the transfer market in the today's world is the most inflated market when we seen in the recent times. To buy any good player in the market any major club has to spend a lot to strengthen their squad. The only way to do good deals in the market is to make smart buys and what is a better way than making use of technology to do so .

What it does

Our application helps in identifying the most promising upcoming players who can fill the boots of the players who are the best in the world and are nearing their end of the career. We do so by doing comprehensive evaluation of young players which are the hidden gems right now and can be nurtured to be the best in the future.

How we built it

We did it by combining the major data sets like MLS , FIFA18 , Transfermarkt and doing data analytics on it using state of art machine learning algorithms. We took players at different age groups , looked for their experience , their current market value and tried to predict their ratings and potential for the future .

Challenges we ran into

The most challenging part was to clean data , merge and preprocess it so that it can be used for further analysis . The pre-processing step as known is the most challenging step and we did spend most of our time figuring it out along with getting the right set of features for the ultimate prediction task.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

When we started the project 24 hours ago , we had a slight idea what we wanted to do , but never thought we would be able to come up with a finished product within the time duration . The were up and downs throughout when we sometimes were stuck with no path ahead , but kept going and achieved our goal of what we started ;with impressive results on the given datasets .

What we learned

One of the most important thing we learnt was that the subject matter of the required domain is a important aspect if you want to do something useful for that field. We also realized that nothing can be achieved without team collaboration and never dying team spirit and fun which comes along with it .

What's next for Smart Scouting

We would like to make more in depth analysis using different datasets of other leagues and use those to make our a scouting application more efficient in the future . We also hope that our application will find it best use in major leagues across the world . We are confident that given the right opportunity and resources we can make our product a huge success for all the parties involved .
