Inspiration

There is a huge disparity on the knowledge of personal finance. We wanted to build an app that could teach people the effects of debt and savings and how they can mitigate the impact of debt.

What it does

This is a choice-based game where one choice can impact the next situation. Each choice will also impact your savings or debt and other quantitative values like health, comfort, and financial status. At the end of the game, you can compare your overall score with your friends and play again to see the other paths to take.

How we built it

The game mainly relies on front-end, using Javascript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.

Challenges we ran into

It was hard getting the UI down and getting the story to match up with the stats.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of finishing a 5 chapter game where each action impacts the financial status of the player.

What we learned

We learned how to beautify the UI through Bootstrap and how to build the infrastructure of a tree in a choice-based game.

What's next for Smart Savings

We are planning on adding small animations like animated bar chart whenever an according action is taken in place
