All of the people in our group run cross country. We decided to try to make an app that would help us go on our runs by giving us useful information about what is going on outside (weather, neighborhood, etc.). From that, our website would be able to give us a ranking on how the conditions would be throughout the day.
What it does
Smart Runner gives you a ranking on how nice the weather is in your location to go for a run. It will give you a ranking based on weather and other important factors.
How we built it
We decided Bluemix and Node Red would be good way to implement all of the factors into our site, and HTML with CSS would be the best to have on the site itself.
Challenges we ran into
Coming into the competition, none of us knew about Bluemix, Node red, or Watson, which made it really hard to integrate all of those pieces together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of learning all of this and putting it all together into a semi-functional website in less than 48 hours.
What we learned
We learned how to use Bluemix, Node red, Watson, quite a bit more about websites, and android apps.
What's next for Smart Runner
We plan to add a route system, and add in several factors to our point system. These factors would be day/night, neighborhood, and your schedule from Google Calendar. The ranking would subtract points for it being nighttime, the route being in bad neighborhoods, and it would subtract points for the times filled in on your schedule.
