Inspiration

Many students and freshers struggle to create professional resumes due to lack of guidance, design skills, and understanding of ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems). During hackathons and internships, we observed that even skilled candidates get rejected because of poorly structured resumes. This inspired us to build Smart Resume Builder — a simple, intelligent tool that helps anyone create job-ready resumes quickly.

What it does

Smart Resume Builder is an AI-powered web application that helps users generate professional, ATS-friendly resumes. Users enter their basic details (education, skills, experience), and the system automatically generates well-structured resume content. It provides multiple templates, real-time preview, and allows users to download resumes in PDF format.

How we built it

Designed a clean and user-friendly frontend using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (with optional React support).

Built backend APIs using Python (Flask/FastAPI) to handle user data and resume generation.

Implemented AI-based logic to generate summaries, skills, and experience descriptions.

Used GitHub for version control and GitHub Copilot to speed up development.

Integrated PDF generation for easy resume downloads.

Challenges we ran into

Designing resumes that are truly ATS-friendly while still looking professional.
