Inspiration

If you ever wanted to grocery shop, it's sometimes hard to plan ahead and record what you may have in your pantry..

What it does

Scans the UPC barcode of your food and stores it in an inventory that can be viewed remotely.

How we built it

Built it with a Raspberry Pi 3, a camera, and a web server.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the camera to work. Getting a high enough resolution photo of the UPC. Finding a reliable UPC translation that would accept most of the foods customers would purchase. Group members leaving the group.

Accomplishments that were proud of

Making a bar code scanner, finding the correct UPC look-up, and implementing the UPC code converter.

What we learned

Hackathons are an investment, in more ways than one.
